Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Sabrina D — 06 Apr 2012
I didn't believe all the hype for this film.. until I saw it. Absolutely outstanding in so many ways. Most importantly the script and direction by Jason Reitman, who outshines all his previous work (which wasn't to bad itself) and most others.
This is a great character sketch of a person lost who through a series of new personal relationships completely changes. Funny, dramatic, heartbreaking and completely moving this film captures a time period (meaning right now) that has yet to really been captured on film.
This could easily become the best picture for 2009 (Academy Awards) and I think almost deservedly so. George Clooney, I think, gives the best performance of his career, even though it is all very subtle and quiet.
Great, great film.
