Review of Up (2009) by Jacob A — 01 Sep 2013
This movie actually made me cry...It really played to my emotions, especially in the beginning where it builds up the Main character's past. It really does help make the character relatable and makes you feel for him.
I often joke about this being the animated Gran Torino where the main character who is elderly opens to a younger boy and actually becomes a father-like figure, creating a relationship. In here, like Gran Torino, it's pretty patient with it's story, it isn't trying to rush through, taking time to flush out everything it has to offer.
This allows it to go into depth. This is what really stands out the most, is the emotion and imagery that associates in what the main character sees. This is the powerhouse in the film.Combined with the Typical Pixar formula of creating awe and wonderment plus what was said above, This is probably the most powerful Pixar movie ever.
