Review of Up (2009) by Spenser F — 04 Mar 2014
I have seen this movie many, many times. It's commonly a movie we pick for a class when we have a substitute teacher, or on buses to field trips, or with friends, but not once have I not cried at the beginning. One of the best woven stories of all time tells the story of a man who loved someone very deeply have his heart turned back to warmth as he adventures with a very excited young boy. As Pixar usually does, the characters are all very unique in appearance and that adds so much character, especially in this movie.
The subtle parts of Carl's model carry his character, as do Russell's. His chubbiness and fullness represents how full of energy he is, and makes him appear very eager, while Carl's boxy head shape and short stature do make him appear more elderly and grumpy. I really love the graphics on this, and I think it's probably one of the most beautiful Pixar movies. I highly recommend it.
