Review of Untraceable (2008) by Aidan H — 24 Dec 2009
Tech thrillers are normally the least interesting branch of the genre but Untraceable does have a plausible and unnerving premise and does it without all the phoney bells and whistles of films like The Net and Hackers.
Diane Lane's cut-and-paste working mom is bland but convincing and the dialogue is net-savvy and not too stodgy. As killers go, our man is gruesomely inventive but the torture is underplayed and there are no real moments of pain, just police work.
Not genre-defining but watchable due to its pared-down style and nifty camerawork. Not bad.
