Review of Untraceable (2008) by Julia G — 03 Jan 2012
Untraceable is your cookie cutter thriller, it adds some original elements but offers very few twists. The technology aspect of tracking criminals was a cool element to the story. Diane Lane is good, along with Colin Hanks.
The story is simple, Diane Lane is a FBI computer specialist, who tracks online criminals, and is tipped off about a site where a victim is filmed, and the more hits the site gets, the faster the victim dies.
The formula works, but unfortunately suffers from weak plot points. The film does make us question our hunger for deranged of sadistic, but since that becomes the driving theme and moral of the film, it falls weak.
As the first thriller of '08, Untraceable proves an entertaining pic.
