Review of Unleashed (2005) by Bertrand W — 16 Aug 2008
Despite being marketed as some sort of shallow but ultra actiony martial arts flick, it's in fact a surprisingly talky drama (with martial arts bits)... set in a Glasgow mysteriously populated entirely by Londoners (and Morgan Freeman). The plot's fairly compelling and writing's pretty good, and the characters are surprisingly believable despite the absurdity of the premise.
The aforementioned setting's somewhat distracting, mind you; if they wanted to use Londoners instead of Glaswegians for whatever reason, why not just set it in London? It's not as if there's much in there that specifically demands a specific setting.
