Review of Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2010) by Zombie M — 15 Feb 2010
I think it's treated as a sequel to the first movie. It's no longer a high-action, explosive, fun romp. This one is far more gritty and realistic than any other in the series. The second tier soldiers are all actual MMA fighters so, you can see how that plays out.
Dolph is only in the movie for 5 minutes but he brings in the self-aware drama that Roy Batty had in Blade Runner. I wish they expanded on that much more, oh well. There's a long lead up to the major action and there's no big score, which is probably why the movie wasn't tossed into theaters.
If you like the first movie, then you should see this.
