Review of Unfriended (2014) by Eytan D — 13 Nov 2015
So here's the breakdown of "Unfriended". It's basically "I Know What You Did Last Summer" meets "Paranormal Activity". In terms of plot, it doesn't do anything new that other slasher movies and supernatural horrors haven't already touched upon.
But truthfully, even though it's been released amidst the drained found footage craze, it's better than it has a right to be. We have yet to see a horror flick based entirely around social media like "Unfriended" is, and it's a fairly good gimmick that keeps your attention for the whole ride.
It's not scary, maybe just a little creepy, and none of the characters are likable. But the two things "Unfriended" has going for it are a good gimmick and a decent commentary on cyberbullying.
For that one, I say you're better off skipping the rest of the "Paranormal Activity" sequels and giving this one a watch.
