Review of Unforgiven (1992) by Gde A — 29 Feb 2012
Of all the revisionist westerns, Unforgiven might be the greatest. And that's saying something, since Sergio Leone's films are also very powerful. Unforgiven, though, is a different beast. It tears apart the western mythos by burning the notions of slick cowboys and cool outlaws, questioning the morality of those on either side of the law.
Its difficult ruminations on ethics and law leave no easy answers, unlike Eastwood's former role as Harry Callahan.
