If you're like me and you've seen Clint Eastwood movies when he was in his prime, then the parts of this movie where he struggles to be the man he once was will be surprisingly hard to watch but it makes it all the more sweeter when he finally snaps at the end of the film and I loved the scene where he drinks whiskey for the first time in over a decade because it was so simplistic, Clint Eastwood could have tried to make that a major moment but instead it happens so fast you almost missed it and I loved that.

At first I didn't know how I would feel about Gene Hackman because I wasn't buying him as a cowboy but he grew on me as the movie progressed but I'm not so sure he deserved an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Morgan Freeman did his thing and was his usual awesome self. I think what was maybe my favorite or 2nd favorite scene was when Gene Hackman was talking to the writer about English Bob but I really wish they would have done more with his character because there were clearly some issues there and I wanted to know what they were.

All in all this movie is good but probably didn't deserve the Academy Award for Best Picture but if you're hoping it's going to be like the Man with no Name trilogy then you're going to be disappointed.
