"Unfinished Business is awful business for Vince Vaughn, it's one of the worst comedies of 2015".

DVD Movie Review: Unfinished Business.

Date Viewed: June 16 2015.

Directed By Ken Scott (Delivery Man).

Written By Steven Conrad.

Starring: Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco, Sienna Miller, James Marsden and Nick Frost.

In the past few years, Vince Vaughn has become the face of the dying economy with bad comedies such as "Delivery Man" and "The Internship". His new film "Unfinished Business" is awful business for him, Dave Franco and Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson who gets reduced to playing a pathetic divorcee who smokes pot and gets into a pillow fight with 20 or more naked women. Vaughn's star status has fallen off dramatically with each comedy he's in. You know what that means? He has been diagnosed with Eddie Murphy syndrome. Okay, he might be starring in season two of "True Detective" but that doesn't mean your career hasn't hit rock bottom.

"Unfinished Business" is a desperate comedy that wants to be three movies at once, it wants to be an R-rated "Hangover-esque" comedy, a family drama with Vaughn trying to be a good father to his son who gets severely bullied by almost all of his classmates and a PG-13 jobs comedy about closing an important deal with a major firm. "Unfinished Business" fails on all three levels and it gets more dumb and more dumber as it goes along.

Vaughn plays Dan Trunkman, a small business owner who decides to leave his job and start a business on his own. He used to work for Dynamic Systems, a profitable company run by Chuck Portnoy (Sienna Miller). WHAT! Sienna couldn't find a more ordinary name for a woman than Chuck? WHAT'S THIS! We have two more silly names to go through? YIPPEE! Dan wants to start his own business but the only two people he can find are Tim McWinters (Wilkinson), who claims he was let go for being too old and Mike Pancake (Franco), a likable goofus who gets words wrong and he's not very bright.

Dan keeps telling Mike to not say his last name during the first interviews of their business trip but he keeps on saying Pancake because screenwriter Steven Conrad thinks it's f$&@!ing hilarious but it really isn't. The joke gets repeated over and over again as this lame comedy continues to go downhill. Dan, Mike and Tim want to strike a deal with a major firm run by investors (Jim Spinch (James Marsden) and Bill Whilmsley (Nick Frost). Their big business trip to Germany also allows them to have some fun. That means smoking pot, drinking alcoholic beverages, getting into a pillow fight with lots of naked women, lots of dick jokes and making love to a woman in wheelbarrow position. Dan's son, Paul (Britton Sear) is being bullied constantly for his weight and penchant for wearing eye shadow and he wants to go to a private school so that he can magically make all the bullying go away.

The three stooges do all of this crazy stuff in the middle of the G8 summit, Oktoberfest and even a gay rights festival. Director Ken Scott who previously teamed with Vaughn for "Delivery Man" has slow timing and has no idea on how to stage comedic bits. The performances are very stiff and Dave Franco's Mike Pancake may be the most annoying character of the year, he's in the same league with the dumb supporting characters Nick Swardson usually plays in some of Adam Sandler's recent films.

Vince Vaughn has been trying to be sincere and good-hearted in the last few years but he really needs a new agent. Not only does "Unfinished Business" suffer from lack of chemistry between its three stars, it also suffers from lack of sheer raunchiness. "Unfinished Business", COME ON DOWN! You're the next contestant to appear on my Worst Movies of the year list!
