Review of Unfaithful (2009) by Brian R — 04 Aug 2010
This film is intriguing to me because of the two main characters. Diane Lane and Richard Gere play as a happily married couple who lives in a nice suburban community until the Lane character meets a younger handsome man in NYC--they both have a hidden affair. The Lane character is in guilt since she is cheating but it's clear she can't stop her cravings of seeing the guy and it's also looks like she loves the thrill of having sex in public places with the manstress.
The Gere character notices something different from his wife(most of the time they're both somewhat distant from each other) and so he decides to hire a PI to investigate. The PI explains to the Gere character that his wife is having an affair. Uh-oh me thinks I know where this is going...Lyne's film uses Hitchcock themes, and McGuffin(the snow globe) and maybe "Citizen Kane" elements with the snow globe falling on the floor.
I loved this film since it deals with sexual affairs and how Lane and Gere's characters deal with the guilt and the terrible sins they have commited. The only one who seems to be faithful in this picture is the couple's son played by Erik Per Sullivan.
