I'm not a huge fan of the Underworld movies, though I did watch the first movie years ago, so this prequel felt a little like "wtf is going on?" to me. Still, it kept me interested throughout and I am partial to that dark, gothic, sexy tightpants and leather look.
(I was totally confused though, even though I didn't realize it until the end, since I thought Sonya was Selene...) One thing I do appreciate about these movies is the feeling that there's a well-thought out and massive backstory to everything.
Are there Underworld books? I'd be interested in those.
