Review of Underworld: Evolution (2006) by Joey S — 09 May 2013
The main blurb about this movie hits it right on the head: The story is incredibely convoluted, as I think this series is trying to present a deep story, but they're doing it in the most ambivelent way possible. The plot is pretty simple, there's really no need to add layers that don't need to be there.
That being said, there is NO WAY this movie is a 17% movie. If you beleive the critics, who almost to a man hate action movies, then fine. If however, you are an action movie junkie, you will enjoy this movie despite sitting there in confusion for the first part of it. Once you get the hang of the characters/backstory, this movie has plenty of action.
Besides the convoluted plot, the issue that I had with this movie was the heroes seeming invincibility. Things that shouldv'e been able to kill a vampire/werewolf, and certainly did kill their enemies, Selene and Michael just shrugged off.
So: As an action movie, pretty good. As a plot movie, bit confusing. Worth a rent.
