Review of Underworld: Blood Wars (2016) by Matt T — 02 Dec 2016
I liked it. Im not sure if I prefer this one over Awakening but I think Awakening had better action sequences however this chapter has a lot more internal feuding, scheming, plotting amongst the Vampires.
It's a shame that Scott Speedmen didn't want to return to the franchise but Kate Beckinsale is what's important in Underworld.
As for the story, I particularly enjoyed the twists involving the deceased Elders, Underworld is at its strongest when dealing with the mythology of their universe and this movie has that in spades and I liked the use of the flashbacks but there may have been a couple too many.
*spoiler* My only gripe is that the baddies were never really anything special or challenging, I would have liked for one of them to have survived going in to the 6th film instead of them having to introduce and set up a new set for the next one.
