Review of Underworld: Awakening (2012) by Tim F — 16 Oct 2012
This movie was not quite as bad as I had originally expected. Although the opening sequences were filmed oddly different than the rest, it picked up after Selene gets woken up. Kate Beckinsale has a nostalgically fun appeal as the super hot bad-ass who this time is protecting her test tube daughter.
The film decides that bigger is better as they have a werewolf that is 1.5 times bigger than others. It felt more like a good video game creature than movie creature and made me think of the giant creature in the Gears of War series.
It looked like the film might capture the fun of the first for a while, but eventually felt a bit tedious and showed that it was time to close this franchise down. At least they did it with its star. Fun, but nothing special.
