Undoubtedly Under the Shadow is an effective, creepy and atmospheric horror film. But it's not only that. It is also a film which achieves to say insightful things about the social and political reality in Iran and to use horror in an allegorical way.
Just like the best horror films do. The success of Under the Shadow firstly credits to its very well written screenplay. Yet direction, cinematography and most of the performances are great as well. The best horror film of 2016.
