Review of Under the Same Moon (2007) by Sugeiny T — 14 Apr 2008
Beautiful movie! I thought this was going to be a very melodramatic film that was gonna pour pathetism from beginning to end. I was wrong, they managed to show the aspects in a general basis, I mean, they didn't focus on the bad things only, they managed to show the good people, funny things, they didn't put USA as a big horrible monster, they showed both faces, which made it really believable, 'cuz lets face it not everything is bad.
As a puertorrican I know what it is to be in a subordinate culture so that makes it easy for me to feel empathy for a situation like this, therefore I was bound to like and enjoy this even more. The acting was very good, it was fun to see the actors we usually see in mexican soap operas in such a serious subject and so much different characters.
I'm a fan of Kate del Castillo, she was excellent, Carmen Salinas and Sonia Smith were lovely and the kid was the cutest thing ever! Then there's Eugenio Derbez, his performance was impressive.
.. so was his body! hahaha that was a plus!
