Review of Under Siege (1992) by Kyle E — 11 Aug 2010
By now you know, most of Seagal's films are pretty terrible. But they always have that amazing comedic value that keeps me coming back for more. However, in 1992, a studio decided to give a Seagal film a budget, and thus, "Under Siege" was born.
"Under Siege" has some prominent actors, I mean for one, it's got Tommy Lee Jones in a particularly over-the-top performance, and it's got the always crazy Gary Busey, but "Under Siege" succeeds where most Seagal films fail, and that would be in the fact that it has semi-decent action sequences. While most Seagal films are about him snapping wrists to get answers, "Under Siege" requires Seagal to not only shoot a few guns, but make big explosions, and who's not up for a good explosion now and again?
Plus, Tommy Lee Joins gets the best death sequence ever, so you should watch it for that alone. No, Seagal doesn't wise-crack around during this film like a lot of his films, which may be why this one also stands out, but "Under Siege" will probably go down as the actor's best film...
