Review of Unconditional (2012) by Synthia G — 20 Jun 2014
Essential Question: What if God's love is like the sun?
#constant.
#believe.
#smileagain.
***Spoiler ALERT***.
This movie reminds me of Crash, Ray, and The Blind Side...
Available on Netflix!
From the very beginning it draws you in with extreme situations and intense characters.
I'm a Michael Ealy "Joe Bradford" fan. The relationship between him and "Sam"... His illness...
The flashbacks... Her husband's murder mystery...
All make for a very intriguing viewing experience.
Glow: a message on love that transcends race through hope and making a difference.
"Papa" is relatable and inspirational.
The "killer" is not who you think he is which alleviates the otherwise predictable characters.
Grow: stereotypical roles and circumstances.
All the black people live in the projects/time in prison... while Sam has the storybook home and farm...
Detective likens the project children to "pit-bulls" (um... Ouch).
Favorite quote: it ain't a dead end if it takes you somewhere that you need to go.
Themes: helping others, letting go, forgiveness, love, friendship, hope, and grief & loss.
