Review of Uncle Buck (1989) by Dan B — 21 Dec 2009
Archetypal John Candy vehicle, with writer / director John Hughes displaying his usual understanding of children, teenagers and misfits. It never QUITE lives up to its promise, but is a lot of fun nonetheless and reminds you that there was a time when even an unassuming family film like this had a little grit mixed in with the sentiment and easy laughs.
