Review of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) by Roman R — 22 Oct 2010
This year's Palme d'Or winner at Cannes, this is the latest feature from Thai arthouse specialist Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Uncle B is dying so gathers his family around him in the Thai countryside, however the spirits come to visit too including his former wife and his long lost son who returns in the form of a monkey! I'll be honest, the longer this went on the more impenetrable it got, but the visuals are sumptuous and dark spirits with the glowing red eyes would be perfect for a horror feature.
