Well, it was odd. I liked it because I'm extremely interested in dreams (been keeping a dream journal since 2003, over 2500 dreams, study them scientifically etc) so that's the reason I liked the lack-of narrative, I suppose.
It was also oddly graphic for 1929 and the eye slicing at the beginning looked awesome.
