Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Britt P — 17 Dec 2007
A simple beautiful story. Certainly not a feel-good film but one that tugs at your gut emotions. You don't feel sympathy for Umberto you feel empathy for him. De Sica puts you in his shoes. The dog pound scene nearly killed me.
The ending was touching in the happy-sad way that life tends to be.
