Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Benjamin W — 03 Jul 2012
Umberto D. directed by Vittorio De Sica.
This film has kept me thinking about it long after watching it just like, Bicycle Thieves, Las Strada, Tokyo Story and Throne of Blood and many more beautiful films; for the grand story of the film. Struggle shown in by Umberto D. (Carlo Battisti) puts every factor of my senses to realize the realistic approach of the performance given by each character.
The scene, when Maria (Maria Pia Cas.) wakes up and heads to kitchen, her dramatization of the scene, has got neo-realism-elements, during watering-away ants, and then looking into her cloths; and many other scenes. Umberto D. is work of crafty filmmaker like Vittorio De Sica.
