Review of U-571 (2000) by Mad M — 25 Apr 2015
The scenes of battle are some of the best I've seen in a submarine war movie. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie is boring because of the actors. Everyone just walks around looking all morose and wondering what's going on.
As someone with an interest in cryptography I was hoping they'd explore that aspect of the plot more, but beyond seeing an Enigma machine the movie offers nothing for enthusiasts like me. And seeing Bon Jovi was a distraction because his character is so bland you can't help but just see him as Bon Jovi.
The movie is worth a watch for the action, though. The movie does have tension of the underwhelming variety.
