Review of Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964) by Joseph L — 19 Mar 2008
It's a bad film, but it is so successfully creepy! The gore isn't convincing but the cast of gleeful mob-murdering Confederate hicks is relentlessly unnerving. Yes, the hicks are textbook stereotypes and the acting is terrible (playmate Connie Mason is nearly the best actor) but the film's slow pace, exaggerated characters and nonsense plot create a truly disturbing experience.
