Review of Two Moon Junction (1988) by Jonnyk1972 — 16 May 2019
Probably the greatest love story of all time... Once in a while, a movie comes along which is just better than the rest. Two Moon Junction is such a movie. It’s the story of April, a beautiful, rich, privileged southern lady whose life looks perfect.
Looks however, can be deceiving. We quickly discover that April is oppressed by her friends and family who expect her to walk, talk and behave like a princess. The story of Two Moon Junction is the story of April’s struggle to break free of her oppression in favour of freedom and love.
Released in the 1980s when woman were very much submissive to their male co-stars, Two Moon Junction was ahead of its time. April’s emotional journey sees her fight against the expectations placed on women back then to behave a certain way, a submissive way.
It is an amazing journey not to be missed. Sherilyn Fenn’s performance as April is so real and powerful, you will be willing April on to take control of her life, and her family and her lovers. Fenn’s portrayal of April is quite simply the best you will see in a love story, as she makes you feel each and every one of April’s victories and defeats.
