Review of Two Lovers (2008) by Monica F — 31 Jan 2010

I have never been a big fan of Joaquin Phoenix. There is something about his performances that have always seemed to me overly dramatic. However, I really enjoyed this movie and his performance. I know that for many this would be a slow and boring romantic movie.

Since Hollywood has created the idea that a great romantic story can be built in a weekend encounter, lots of chasing, cheesy music and public final kiss accompanied but a big round of applause...this movie would be seen as lacking all those "necessary" ingredients.

That "lack" is exactly why I liked this movie, because it seemed real to the bone. I liked the script, the acting, the music and the movie in general.
