Review of Two Lovers (1928) by Dean M — 22 Jul 2010
Itâ??s my first time to see Joaquin Phoenixâ??s movie, never have good feelings for him... the reason to see this movie is all about Gwyneth Paltrow, I like her when she was in Sliding Doors, Emma but there was time I thought sheâ??s not that talent/special, it was when she won the Oscar. Itâ??s funny, when I am getting older and older, Gwyneth, Drew Barrymore, Cate Blanchett or Jennifer Aniston etc are much easy to have my attention instead of Linsay, Kristen Stewart or Megan Foxâ?¦.
Back to business, Two Lovers, one man between two women, you know what will happen. Itâ??s a simple story, Lenoard (Joaquin) is obsesse with a funny, attractive, blonde Michelle (Gywneth) who is, however, in a relation with a married man. Leonard to Michelle is only a standby lover. Sandra (Vinessa), is more straightforward, frank and a true admirer of Leonard, she sees his pain, understands his past but she can never win Leonardâ??s heart from Michelle. The ending, to me, itâ??s not good, but if you put yourself into the shoes of Leonardâ??s mom, I think thatâ??s the best ending to her, I bet she is extremely desirous Michelle to break Leonardâ??s heart. I just donâ??t agree why Leonard can be that easy to win Sandraâ??s heart, why he doesnâ??t need to pay for anything for his unfaithfulness to Sandra? Too lucky to Leonard, he doesnâ??t deserve it, just the same to Chris Wilton in Match Point.
