Review of Two for the Money (2005) by Sunay S — 21 Jan 2009
The movie is all about strong personalities, especially in the world of picking and selling bets. It emphasizes the power of influential dialogue, confidence and arrogance. Pacino portrays all of these qualities excellently and carries this film.
The dialogue on gambling and betting and what the real problem of gamblers and bettors is during the "meeting" is a genius bit of philosophy. McConaughey is also good as he seamlessly transitions between Lang and Anthony , making them seem different yet similar.
However, I was left a bit confused with the resolution of these particular characters simply because I felt that the impact that John Anthony has on Brandon Lang's life and purity isn't emphasized clearly through examples.
It is left more to the imagination. I understand the climax because I can understand what is going on in the character's mind not because I see it on film but because I know it through examples of morality and ethics.
