Review of Two for the Money (2005) by Jay L — 12 Mar 2011
"What every QB knows is that the secret, the key to victory is anticipation, the ability to see the future and react to it.".
Director D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) puts the pedal to the metal in this hardcore high stakes sports drama that dives deep into the psychology of sports wagering and gambling. A sizzling hot and tenacious punch of tense drama and thrilling suspense. A great film for sports fans and film fan alike, an excellent blend of action, astronomical odds, and high stakes. It's about time that someone attempted a sports gambling film and got it right. It's Jerry Maquire without the romance. Great filmmaking that does a good job of highlighting the highs of success and endless pitfalls of defeat. An uneasy, and pure blast of cinematic fresh air.
Al Pacino is back and is flawless yet again in his performance, another brilliant piece of acting from the legend himself. Matthew McConaughey stars alongside Pacino in a riveting performance that breaths the life into this beast of a film. Also starring Rene Russo, Jeremy Piven, and Armand Assante.
