Review of Two Days, One Night (2014) by Andy P — 13 Dec 2014
The film creates a familier odyssey narrative set against the modern economic landscape many people in the west face in today's time. Cotillard gives a very affecting performance as a women who must try and convince her coworkers to give up their needs in order for her to keep her job.
Nothing is really spelled out for you as the audience. The Dardennes are able to make the audience realize that while the weekend being viewed her is important to Sandra's life, it is just one in what is sure to be, and has been, a long line of hard experiences for the Belgium mother.
Nevertheless, the film ends on a note of hope which allows us believe that while not all will be alright, at least the characters can endure.
