Review of Two Days, One Night (2014) by Marc L — 12 Aug 2016
Every now and then you see a movie that you really needed to see at that exact point in your life. This was one of those movies for me. Very relatable and powerful performance by Marion Cotillard. The best I've seen from her; clearly, I still have much to explore.
She showed so much by doing so little and I was so tied to her character's struggles and emotions. I loved the long takes and the different nature of the conversations in the film. Each one kept me at the edge of my seat as I swung on the pendulum of highs and lows with the character.
While the same convo essentially took place over and over again, the film had enough subtleties to distinguish them from each other. There were great character moments and superb performances all throughout the film.
One of those movies where I just felt as if life was unfolding rather than being imitated and filmed. I loved the story of the film and found the ending to be just perfect.
