Review of Two Brothers (1926) by Tyler W — 21 Feb 2010
A sweet film. Dramatically somethign is left to be desired, particularly as it isn;t as clear as it could be how the twin cubs are meant to have different personalities, which robs the film of much force since it hinges quite a bit on how their circumstances change them. One major star, the location (Thailand and Cambodia) is under-used - way under-used. Not to mention that there is something about they ways the tigers roam about the jungle that make them look like they are in a zoo. As it is, it feels only like a children's film when it could have been more.
Freddie Highmore is as captivating as always. Guy Pearce is also good. Clearly the film is meant to be about the cubs, but when it falls slightly short in that department, one wishes the human-side is cranked up a little.
