Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Ben L — 20 Jan 2008
Two things--first, the movie was in need of some editing. It starts out focusing on FBI agents investigating the killings, and there are some wonderful scenes here that I wouldn't trade for anything.
But then Lynch abruptly drops that whole aspect and never returns to it. Agent Cooper is in about three scenes and then never shows up again. Second, we have to wade through scenes with some of the less interesting citizens of Twin Peaks.
This was true of the show and it's true of the movie. If you cut about twenty minutes and added some more FBI stuff throughout the movie, I would probably up it one whole star rating. I give it a mixed review, but I'm glad I saw it.
