Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Russell J — 11 Feb 2010
I was disappointed with this movie. To be fair I haven't seen the series since I was in my early teens but I remember the reaction from people who watched the series get frustrated when it started to get weirder.
I have tried to watch the film in its own entirety but found it difficult to get into. The pacing is slow, some of the acting is atrocious. It has many of the lynch trademarks like hidden motifs and the use of sound such as the electrical heaters and the appearances of dwarves etc. but I found this film just didn't engage me like other Lynch movies have done. There are some great moments of horror that Lynch excels at. Such as the Bowie disappearance scene.
I can understand why critics panned it and it would only appeal to the Lynch die hard fan. Maybe it's a film that requires repeated viewing but I found the film hard work.
