Review of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) by Jason R — 27 Sep 2008
This is an unfortunately unbalance movie. The first segment on racism doesn't quite make it over the hump. I don't know if the helicopter deaths had anything to do with that, but they could have contributed to the story not panning out.
The kick the can segment has a nice message and presents one of the softer sides of the Twilight Zone, but is unrewarding. The 3rd segment on the boy who can have whatever he wants is alright, but goes on for a little too long.
The last segment recreating the William Shattner episode is by far the best. With a strong show like the Twilight Zone it is strange the first two episodes were picked for the film. The fact that the episodes don't have codas like on the show leave the stories rather open ended.
The opening with Dan Ackroyd and Albert Brooks scared me to death when I was little.
