Review of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) by Mark S — 28 Jan 2009
It's hard to watch this without thinking about how actor Vic Morrow and two children died in an accident on set. The segment they were taking part in (written and directed by John Landis) really wasn't worth such risks, as it's just a ham-fisted attempt at the type of moralising that was done much better in the original show.
Spielberg's segment is surprisingly average and is overly sentimental even by his standards, but the last two segments are a big improvement on what went before them and directors Joe Dante and George Miller deserve some credit for how they breathed fresh life into two old stories.
