Review of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) by Ellen E — 04 Oct 2009
This is a mixed bag of delights veering from the 'what the fuck' flatliner that is the John Landis segment, where a bigomist gets his just desserts, then to the so-sickly sweet Steven Spielberg segment - see old people become young again, there's a message here yah know, but dont chuck the towel in just yet as the third and final segments capture that spirit of the Twilight Zone TV series.
Joe Dante's piece is an absolute tour de four, all wonky cameras and wonderful lighting, expand to a full piece movie please and then there's Mad Max's George Miller putting Jon Lithgow through his paces as a nervous flyer convinced he can see a monster lurking on the wing on his plane.
Five stars to the last two segments, two and a half to the first and then just two to Spielberg's pile of poop.
