Review of Turbo Kid (2015) by Matthew F. J — 29 Dec 2015

This film is my 2015 crush. Wonderful little independent film filled with references to the 80's action adventure genre, this dystopian tale will either take you on board or leave you at the door. I personally loved the soundtrack which reminded me a lot of all these 80's classics such as : Ladyhawke, Flight Of The Navigator, Mad Max, Dark Chrystal and so on.

The film has a pretty cool story, a pretty charismatic evil bad guy, a scary psychopath killer with an iron mask on his face and definitely the most amazing look I have seen in a while. Sort of apocalyptic western of the future, where bikes have replaced horses in this wasteland, the film benefits from a great young lead actor and his amazing friend, the most iconic and unusual Apple.

I highly recommend it for you and your kids though some of the scenes are very bloody, funny but bloody so it may scare the youngest ones. But for everyone else, this is like finding a long lost flick from 1985, playing it and suddenly realizing this is probably the coolest flick you'll see this year.
