Review of Turbo (2013) by Caton B — 24 Mar 2014
If you ask me, Dreamworks Animation has always been a Pixar wannabe, with a few exceptions. In regards to "Turbo," I'll list the good first. The visuals, as with many animated features these days, are amazing, and entertaining enough to get the viewer through the hour and a half feature.
The voice casting is well done, and the animators really did a great job bringing unique personalities to the different characters. However, aside from visuals, this film is anything but creative. Essentially, if you were to mix Pixar's "Cars" with "A Bug's Life," and, maybe, sprinkle a little "Toy Story" in there, "Turbo" would be the result.
Ultimately, where "Turbo" fails is in its plot, which is formulaic, predictable, and just nothing worth talking about.
