Charlize Theron delivers a phenomenal performance with monumental effort. Mackenzie Davis, while not as good, also deliver a stellar performance.
The plot twist at the end received mixed opinions with the audience, you either love it or hate it. I on the other hand deeply appreciate its reflection on sacrifices a mother has to make.
This is the third time Jason Reitman (director) and Diablo Cody (writer) have collaborated (Juno, Young Adult) and they clearly have chemistry. Cody's screenplay gave freedom to the cast, primarily Theron while Reitman sense of direction make Tully realistic. In the end Tully is a deep, at the same time pleasantly emotional drama with some suprises and attention worthy acting.
