Review of Tsotsi (2005) by Peter T — 17 Jan 2008

I wanted to see this from when I first heard about it but was very dubious about wether the big choice of the central character would be convincing or not. However this film really surprised me.

Tsotsi is yet another character that I thought I would have very little sympathy for but by the final scene of the film I had a massive lump in my throat.

I could easily criticise some elements of the film such as the strange lighting that made the locations look like Hollywood sets but overall I loved this film. Really moving, good story, some great characters and performances and a powerful message.
