The overall vibe of the film did not give me the love for South Africa I had hoped for, and the plot seemed to have only one reasonable direction in which it could head. Yet the film was beautifully done, and I was emotionally involved.
So, what more could one ask for? The shocking contrast between the standards of living was an instant highlight.
