Review of Tsotsi (2005) by Sanford R — 22 May 2009
A movie that doesn't feel the need to over-explain anything, letting the characters gradually reveal themselves through their actions. as an uneducated, emotionally crippled criminal, the main character is incapable of self-reflection; fortunately, the director is savvy enough to recognize this, leaving the heavy lifting to his actors to flesh out their characters.
it's a treat to watch the characters simply live, instead of explaining their inner lives in artificial monologues and confrontations.
