Review of True Romance (1993) by Guy G — 09 Jul 2011
[65/C+] Tarantino wrote this one, and no mistaking the exciting, snickering, always annoying camp. This movie has the feel of a vulgar, violent Sesame Street for cool teens.
It's very visceral and stylishly rendered, with some gutsy scenes and dandy lines of dialogue, but as a whole comes across as so much aesthetic braggadocio that would fall to utter pieces without its queenly masquerade. Not honest, sometimes absurd, sometimes very fun. Always overrated.
