Review of True Romance (1993) by Aslyn E — 22 Aug 2012
Now this is my kind of romance! A joyous romp though the criminal underbelly of LA featuring great dialogue, dark comedy elements and extreme violence to boot. It plays out like a Pulp Fiction-lite tale (Tarantino wrote some of the scenes for this, honing his skills before going on to make Pulp) with a quicker pace although not quite as refined.
However, the scene where Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper discuss Sicilian history just may be one of my favourite movie exchanges ever. Many films these days try to be cool but this offering oozes it from start to finish.
If you slept on this back in the nineties, make up for your offence.
