Review of True Romance (1993) by Antony G — 12 Feb 2013
First off this movie is a smorgasbord of Hollywood talent which can sometimes spell disaster for any potential successful, hyped up film. Thankfully this ain't one of them as each A-lister hasn't been given much time on screen to exert any dominance over their peers in any dick shaking contest! Written by Quentin Tarantino, his first, this doesn't pull any punches with violence & black humour throughout.
Christian Slater plays a comic book store assistant & on his birthday meets a call-girl at the local cinema. It's love at first sight for the both of them & Alabama Whitman's very short career as a call-girl is over.
After killing her pimp & stealing a fortune in cocaine he takes Alabama & goes on the run with a psychotic mobster Vincenzo pursuing them, who employed Alabama's pimp.
