Review of True Romance (1993) by Phillip B — 18 Sep 2013
This movie was made for me. First of all let's go over the plot. A Kung-fu movie loving, Elvis adoring, comic book shop clerk gets thrown into a mess of drugs, guns and gangsters all for the sake of helping the love of his life get out of that mess for good .The concept is wonderful and the execution is perfect. You have Tarantino dialog at it's best. Stylized violence. Samuel L Jackson, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, and Brad Pitt all with small but extraordinarily memorable roles. Val Kilmer as 'The Mentor' an Elvis meets Jiminy cricket like character . Hans Zimmer with the score. Even small things like the references to Sonny Chiba and the Big Bopper make me smile. Sometime down the road I'm going to give this thing a re-watch and a proper review, but hot damn do I love this movie.
You're so cool.
